Did you know that a search on Amazon on the topic of Abraham Lincoln will bring you 1,386 titles? So, why should you choose this book?

While this book gives a wonderful overview of Lincoln’s life, I especially love this biography because of its very beautiful illustrations and the text that includes both information about Lincoln as well as his own words. Lincoln’s words are printed on every page, and they highlight the important aspects of the story.

This book will give you and your students an overview of Lincoln’s life from childhood through the early political years, presidency, and death. The writing is very concise with much information about each time period. It is a great introduction to Abraham Lincoln or could be used to introduce his presidency, slavery, the Civil War, or civil rights.

Additionally, the Gettysburg Address is printed in the back, along with a list of important dates and a list of suggested further reading and internet sites.

This is a "must-read" read aloud for every classroom from third grade and above to celebrate Abraham Lincoln and President’s Day!
