The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School

Author: Laura Murray/ Illustrator: Mike Lowery

Book Review by Mary Piazza

The gingerbread man is loose in school! Where are the kids? He will run, bounce, limp, slide, skip, and explore to find his missing class. This book is filled with the adventures of a gingerbread man molded and baked by a classroom of children. When he is ready to accept his identity and become part of the class, he loses them. His harried and obstacle filled search is delightful. This book is brimming with teaching ideas for primary students. Kindergarten students would love to share the gingerbread man’s adventure to get to know their school and classroom.

The author Laura Murray was an elementary teacher who really did have a freshly baked gingerbread man disappear from her classroom. Her website has a full Gingerbread Man teaching unit.
