PLEASE consider contributing to our journal, The Missouri Reader. We are seeking articles that focus on Disciplinary Literacy, book reviews, and app reviews. Find the latest edition of The Missouri Reader HERE!

In this issue of The Missouri Reader, you will find articles by teachers, for teachers that address a wide range of topics that can help each of us become better at what we love to do – teach children.  Whether you are a preschool teacher or high school teacher, there is something for you in this edition. The articles address many aspects of literacy, but one theme seemed to emerge in many of them – that of doing the best job we can of educating ALL children, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, country of origin, or the student’s immigration status. To echo this statement from Seattle Public Schools’ superintendent, Dr. Larry Nyland,

We will do whatever it takes to make sure every student thrives and I want to reassure you, we will do everything within our power to make sure that all of our children are safe, honored, and respected while in our care.”

Students are well aware of current issues that may make them feel unsafe and unwelcome. Please continue to do as you have always done – respect, honor, and LOVE every child in your care.  We hope the articles in The Missouri Reader give you some guidance your efforts to do just that.
